Job Description

Lead Water Restoration Technician

The Lead Water Restoration Technician is responsible for performing top-quality water mitigation services, including inspection. cleanup and restoration for residential and commercial properties, while delivering outstanding customer service. This role involves hands-on, construction-related work and requires rotating 'on-call/emergency response' availability. Ideal candidates should have experience in residential and commercial construction, enabling them to confidently explain mitigation and contents processes to customers on-site. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail and proficiency in completing precise and software-assisted documentation. Candidates must be able to empathize and inspire confidence in our company with customers that are facing what may be a tragic loss or at least a really bad day in their life. Customers may have lost cherished contents that they may not be able to replace and may be stressed not knowing what to do in a completely new situation.

Job Requirements:

  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Contact homeowners or business owners to schedule walk-throughs and service delivery.
  • Communicate effectively by following up on all customer appointments, emails, and other correspondence.
  • Obtain necessary paperwork (signed Work Authorization form, signed Completion Of Service form, etc..) before starting or completing projects.
  • Perform water mitigation services in accordance with industry specifications and RestoPros protocols.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and insurance agents throughout each project.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and to customer satisfaction.
  • Create / Write estimates using designated software.
  • Keep each job site clean and orderly throughout the project lifecycle, including leaving once the project is complete.
  • Document the mitigation process using industry-standard software and photo documentation through RestoPros systems.
  • Generate and verify daily schedules and progress.
  • Inspect jobs at various stages to uphold high standards and industry compliance.
  • Use tools to generate 3D scans of the work environment.
  • Develop moisture maps and create drying logs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked truck, warehouse, and company equipment
  • Support, and coordinate with, a growing team of restoration technicians as we scale our team.
  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Proficiently able to deliver work in accordance with the IICRC S500 standard.
  • Experience with general construction and demolition tools and tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in warehouse and equipment maintenance, including logging equipment usage, restocking inventory, and ensuring equipment remains in excellent conditions.
  • Ability to manage systems, including data entry and experience with industry-related software.
  • Experience working with Xactimate is a huge plus.
  • Ready and willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Already have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Willingness to undergo background check.
  • Willingness to undergo a driving record check – must have a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently transport and position water and mold restoration equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 150 lbs. with team-lift assistance or through the use of mechanical aids (e.g., dollies, hand trucks) as required by site conditions.
  • Ability to perform technical restoration tasks in restricted-access environments, including crawl spaces, attics, and elevated surfaces, like working at ceiling height on a ladder. Must be physically capable of ascending/descending ladders and working in areas with limited clearance while utilizing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to maintain physical activity and stamina throughout the duration of an emergency response shift (typically 8–12 hours), including the frequent use of hand tools, and the manual manipulation of structural materials and contents.

Experience:

  • Water Mitigation and Restoration: 3 years of experience required (5 years Preferred)
  • Experience with mold, smoke and fire mitigation (Preferred)
  • Construction: 2 year of experience (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • IICRC-Water Damage Restoration (Required)
  • IICRC-Applied Structural Drying (Preferred)
  • IICRC- Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (Preferred)
  • IICRC-Health & Safety (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Location:

  • In Person: Must be permanently located in the metro Detroit area or relocate before starting work (Required). Relocation assistance is not provided.
